Why we should cross our fingers for Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Live-action remake. If you haven’t been living under a rock, you would know about Nickelodeon’s hit animated series ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. The beautiful animation, well-choreographed fight scenes, and a great storyline are what made Avatar an iconic and critically acclaimed animated series of times. Ever since the series ended we’ve wanted to know what the main characters did and what happened to them.
We actually got to see the story through the sequel to the series ‘Avatar: The Legend of Korra’, which wasn’t a badly animated series, action-wise but the story lacked substance which made many hardcore Avatar fans hate the series. The series wasn’t as bad as the 2010 version of the live-action remake of Avatar movie named ‘Avatar The Last Airbender’.
The movie has 5% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, 20% on Metacritic, and 4.0/10 on IMDb. The movie was known for ‘whitewashing’ all the main characters from the original series by casting white actors for all of the three main characters of the series.
The live-action remake was announced back in 2018, but the series hasn’t been talked about by fans and for a valid reason that is the disaster of the 2010s live-action remake which has made fans rather skeptical about the series. Whether it’s going to do justice to the original series or is it going to screw up like last live-action remake. Although we’ve been assured by the creators of this live-action remake that it won’t be anything like the 2010 version. DiMartino and Konietzko the creators of the live-action remake said in a statement :
We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast, It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.
Now as know that this live-action is addressing the major problems with the last live-action series and hopes to learn from the mistakes done by M. Night Shyamalan, the main question arises is:
‘When is the live-action Avatar series is going to be released’?
As we know this live-action remake is in talks since 2018. It still appears to be in the planning stages, there is no release date yet. Production was originally planned to start in 2019, and then announced that it would happen in 2020, but since the coronavirus pandemic has stopped the production on everything, we’ll definitely have to wait a little longer. Hopefully, this will give them more time to perfect everything in the series.
